Liverpool skipper Jordan Hendersen sidelined for the rest of the season.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has been ruled out for six to eight weeks with a knee injury and is a major doubt for Euro 2016.

Henderson came off at half-time in Thursday night's 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League and a scan has confirmed that he has damaged his lateral collateral ligament (LCL).

A LCL injury can typically keep players out for up to three months but the injury is understood to be less serious than usual.

Nevertheless the England midfielder is almost certainly ruled out for the rest of the season, and he is now a major doubt for Euro 2016.

Henderson revealed this week that he has been playing with a heel injury, picked up at the start of the season.

He was out for just over three months when he damaged his heel in August against Bournemouth.
